The next Swindon Festival of Literature takes place 3rd – 9th May 2021.
NOTE: For most events, you do not have to register or buy tickets.
Most events will first be available, at no compulsory charge, at the click of a button, at the times and on the dates as advertised in this programme, or after . . . but not before.
In other words, please wait until the time and date of the event of your choice, and then connect to it via the link on this website, which you will find beside each event from the beginning of May.
Till then, don’t worry. You won’t miss a thing!
This no-charge-access to most events means that the Festival effectively gets no ticket income.
We therefore need your help. If you are able to support this year’s Festival, and ensure its future,
especially after seeing and enjoying it this year, please use our DONATE button. Thank you.
Covid19 has a lot to answer for, not least of which is the loss of life, the interruption to education, and disruption of the economy. Thank goodness for human ingenuity, cutting edge science, generous sponsors, and digital technology, which have all combined to ensure the survival of the arts, at some level. We are lucky that Literature, as a written and spoken word-based activity, lends itself to being presented successfully in a variety of ways, including live or online.
This year, there will be online events daily - some live in real time, others recorded - at midday, afternoon, teatime, and in the evening, carefully spaced and placed to enable you to ‘attend’, view, or hear as many as your own timetable and stamina allow (and YouTube allows you to set reminders for the events you wish to watch). For the full at-a-glance Festival full programme diary see HERE.
Now, please read on, and, virtually-speaking, come along.
Looking forward to reconnecting in May!
